FAQs

What should I expect from my first treatment?

  • Upon arrival, fill in a brief case history form
  • Speak with your therapist to determine the right kind of massage for you (light, deep, specific body parts / full body)
  • In the treatment room, the therapist will explain how to get on the table, appropriate clothing, and parts of the body that will be uncovered. Please Note: The lotion used shouldn't stain your clothing so you can wear what you are most comfortable in.
  • During the massage your therapist will check in with you on the pressure and your comfort level. If you are uncomfortable please feel free to speak up.
  • Your first massage should eliminate some of the discomfort and pain you are in. Your condition may have built up over time and so, may take more than one massage to relieve it.

How frequently do I need to get treatment?

  • Frequency is determined by the client based on a discussion with the therapist.
  • The recommendation is not to wait until pain is the determining factor for another appointment.
  • Regular appointments every 3 or 4 weeks for pain prevention or control may be beneficial.
  • Time and money are also a factor in frequency.

Are Massage Fees Covered?

  • Ontario Health Insurance (OHIP) does not cover massage therapy.
  • Extended health care may cover a portion of treatment. To find out if you have coverage consult your health insurance provider.
  • A doctor's prescription may be required for your insurance company.
  • You will receive a receipt from your therapist to submit to the insurance provider for reimbursement.
  • Or ask about Direct Billing to your extended health care provider.
